Jerry Shoemaker was the first president of Curl Saskatoon in 1990-1991. After serving on the Saskatchewan Curling Association from 1998 – 2002, he was elected to the Canadian Curling Association and served as its president from 2005-2006. Jerry continues to promote the sport both in Saskatoon and surrounding communities.
Jerry has come a long way since starting to curl as a 10-year-old in Plunkett and moving to Saskatoon where he has been a member of Granite, Nutana, and CN clubs. He was elected to the Granite board in 1982 and became its president in 1987-1988 year. He was an organizer, director, or CCA liaison in successive order for three of the Briers to come to Saskatoon. Jerry has also served as the CCA liaison to the World Curling Association and the Olympic Games. He holds a life membership to CurlSask and was inducted to the Canadian Curling hall of Fame in 2007.
