2026 City Bonspiel – January 15th-18th, 2026
More details about bonspiel format rules, gameplay rules, registration, and payment information can be found by clicking on the division buttons below.
MEN’S DIVISION
Men’s Division Format
- The format of the men’s division is to be 4 players whom are male.
- Spares must play lead (1 spare) or lead and second (2 spares), and they also must be male.
Gameplay Rules
- All games will be 8 ends unless a team forfeits the game before the 8 ends are complete.
- The 5-rock rule will stand.
- The “tick” shot will be allowed.
- Please be respectful of the two-hour game; each end should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Remember that the Ice Makers have to prepare the ice in-between draws.
- If tied at the end of the 8th end, then an Extra End must be played to determine the winner of the game. If there is still no winner after the extra end, then the skip from each team will throw one rock closet to the pin. In the very rare occasion that both teams are either short of the house or covering the pin, then either a coin flip or mutually agreed upon method, not involving the use of the ice, from each team may be used to determine the winner.
- If a curler on your team is late, the curler must wait until the next end to play.
- All other general play rules for the game of curling can be found on the Curling Canada website, here.
- If you have any questions please email bonspiel@curlsaskatoon.ca.

OPEN DIVISION
Open Division Format
- The format of the open division is to be 4 players whom are of any gender. We ask teams that have 4 of the same gendered players and that are looking for a more competitive format to either register in the men’s or ladies division (whichever applies) first, prior to registering for the open division. The intention of the open team format is to allow additional teams who have mixed genders to be able to compete in the City Bonspiel or for more recreational curlers.
- Spares must play lead (1 spare) or lead and second (2 spares), they may be of any gender.
Gameplay Rules
- All games will be 8 ends unless a team forfeits the game before the 8 ends are complete.
